Tue Apr 01 18:48:50 UTC 2025: ## India’s GST Collections Hit ₹1.96 Lakh Crore in March, Highest Since April 2024

**Mumbai, April 2, 2025** – India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections surged to ₹1.96 lakh crore (approximately $23.8 billion USD) in March 2025, marking a 9.9% increase compared to the same month last year. This figure represents the highest monthly GST collection since April 2024, when it reached ₹2.01 lakh crore. Net GST collections also saw a rise of 7.3%, reaching ₹1.76 lakh crore.

The annual GST collections for the fiscal year 2024-25 totalled ₹22.08 lakh crore, a 9.4% increase compared to the previous fiscal year.

MS Mani, Tax partner at Deloitte, attributed the March increase to year-end sales pushes by businesses. He noted the encouraging trend of steady monthly increases in GST collections. However, he also highlighted inconsistencies in state-wise growth, with some states like Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan exceeding 10% growth, while others, including Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, showed growth between -1% and 7%, a deviation from typical March trends. Further analysis is needed to understand the reasons behind these variations.
