**Hyderabad, India** – A 22-year-old German tourist was allegedly raped on Monday in Hyderabad, India, police reported. A 24-year-old man, who had rented a car through an app-based service, has been arrested and charged with rape.
The incident occurred near Mamidipally in the Pahadi Shareef region. The victim, visiting Hyderabad with a friend to celebrate Eid, accepted a ride from the accused, who was accompanied by four or five children. After an hour of sightseeing, the suspect allegedly drove the victim to a secluded location, threatened her, and committed the rape before fleeing the scene.
According to Rachakonda police commissioner Sudheer Babu, the victim’s friend and the children exited the car to take photos, allowing the suspect to isolate the victim. The police were able to track down the suspect using a fuel receipt obtained during the ride.
The victim and her friend reported the crime to the police, leading to the swift arrest of the accused. A detailed investigation into the incident is underway.
