Vijayapura, Karnataka – April 2, 2025 – Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, a BJP MLA expelled from the party, has defiantly declared he will not apologize for his outspoken criticism of corruption and nepotism within the party. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Yatnal stated that his commitment to truth-telling supersedes any party discipline. He dismissed his six-year suspension, declaring he would continue to fight corruption, even within his former party.
Yatnal directly accused B.S. Yediyurappa and his son, B.Y. Vijayendra, of corruption and nepotism, alleging that Vijayendra amassed illegal assets exceeding ₹10,000 crore. He rejected claims that he would form a new party, stating he is merely gauging public opinion before deciding his next political move. While he will not appeal the suspension himself, he acknowledged that supporters, including former Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, are seeking support from religious leaders.
Yatnal confirmed he would reconsider rejoining the BJP only after Vijayadasami (October 10th), conditioned on significant changes within the party leadership. He also dismissed criticism from the media, predicting a future political ascendance. He finished by requesting continued media coverage of his actions until at least 2028.
