**LUCKNOW, INDIA** – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has dismissed speculation surrounding his potential future as Prime Minister of India, asserting that politics is not his lifelong vocation. In an interview with PTI, Adityanath reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Uttar Pradesh, stating his primary role is as Chief Minister, a position he sees as a service entrusted to him by his party.
While acknowledging the growing support for him as a potential national leader, Adityanath clarified, “Politics is not a full-time job for me. Ultimately, I am a Yogi (monk) at heart.” He hinted at a time limit for his political career, stating, “There will be a time frame for this as well,” indicating that politics is not a permanent profession for him.
Adityanath also addressed the intersection of religion and politics, arguing that the problem arises when either is pursued for self-interest. He emphasized that true politics and religion should serve the greater good, focusing on solutions rather than contributing to problems. He cited Indian philosophical thought, highlighting that religion, in its purest form, aims for worldly progress and spiritual liberation, both ultimately serving a purpose of selfless service.
The Chief Minister stressed his commitment to his constitutional duties as a citizen, prioritizing national security above all else. He further stated that his identity is defined by his work, not his name, and that any lasting legacy should be measured by the impact of his actions, not his personal recognition.
