**Visakhapatnam, April 1, 2025** – The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) announced a record cargo throughput of 82.62 million tonnes (MT) for the financial year 2024-25. This represents a significant increase across various cargo segments, including crude oil, manganese ore, bauxite, rice, and general cargo.
Port chairman M. Angamuthu attributed the success to the dedicated workforce and efficient cargo evacuation strategies. He highlighted the VPA’s continued commitment to infrastructure development, digitalization, and green port initiatives to further enhance service quality and capacity. Ongoing strategic projects include inner channel deepening, berth mechanization through public-private partnerships (PPPs), road infrastructure improvements, and environmentally focused initiatives like a shore power facility and a one-million-tree plantation program.
