PUTTAPARTHI, Andhra Pradesh – Two men were arrested Tuesday for the murder of YSRCP activist Majjiga Lingamaiah in Sri Sathya Sai district. Lingamaiah died from injuries sustained during an attack on Monday, allegedly after the accused made derogatory comments to his son. The incident has ignited a political firestorm, with the YSRCP claiming the killing was politically motivated.

According to Dharmavaram Deputy Superintendent of Police Hemant Kumar, the accused, Dharmavarapu Adarsh and Dharmavarapu Manoj, attacked Lingamaiah with sticks after he reprimanded them for their comments towards his son. Lingamaiah succumbed to his injuries at an Anantapur hospital.

YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed condolences to Lingamaiah’s family, promising full support and a personal visit next week. The family alleges the attack involved around 20 TDP supporters and claims the local Sub-Inspector is acting biased. Mr. Reddy assured the family of party protection and legal assistance. The Ramagiri police are investigating.
