**Mumbai, India** – Indian stock exchanges, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), are closed today, March 31st, in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr. The currency derivatives market is also closed, while the commodity derivatives market will be open from 5 PM to 11:30/11:55 PM. Normal trading will resume on April 1st.
The closure is in accordance with the official holiday calendar and follows the sighting of the Crescent Moon in Lucknow on March 30th, signifying the end of Ramadan. While some Arab nations celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on March 30th, India observes it today.
This is one of fourteen scheduled holidays for the Indian stock market in 2025. Upcoming market closures include holidays for Shri Mahavir Jayanti, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Good Friday, Maharashtra Day, Independence Day, Shri Ganesh Chaturthi, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti & Dussehra, Diwali, Diwali Balipratipada, Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev, and Christmas. June and July are currently without scheduled stock market holidays.
