Mon Mar 31 19:07:59 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu to See Temperature Drop, Scattered Rainfall This Week

**Chennai, April 1, 2025** – Tamil Nadu is expected to experience a temporary reprieve from the summer heat, with a forecast of cooler temperatures and scattered rainfall in several districts from Wednesday, April 2nd, to Friday, April 5th. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) Chennai predicts a 2-3 degree Celsius drop in maximum temperatures over the next four days.

While Karur Paramathi recorded a high of 38 degrees Celsius on Monday, the RMC anticipates that interior areas previously experiencing scorching temperatures will see some relief. Chennai is expected to maintain near-normal temperatures around 34-35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

The temperature dip and rainfall are attributed to a north-south trough extending to northern Tamil Nadu, which may interact with other weather systems. The extent of rainfall, predicted to affect up to 50% of weather stations in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, is contingent on this trough’s position and interactions, according to P. Senthamarai Kannan, Director of the Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC Chennai. After April 5th, rainfall is expected to be limited to one or two locations. The RMC anticipates that some pockets of the state may experience normal or below normal temperatures from Wednesday onwards.
