**New York, March 31, 2025** – A 67-year-old Pakistani-Canadian national, Mohammad Jawaid Aziz, has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating a long-running scheme to illegally export millions of dollars worth of American technology to entities linked to Pakistan’s military and weapons programs.

Aziz, who ran Diversified Technology Services in Canada, was apprehended on March 21st while attempting to enter the United States from Canada. He is currently detained in Washington state, awaiting transfer to Minnesota.

According to a U.S. indictment, from 2003 to 2019, Aziz’s company procured sensitive US-origin goods, including items subject to export controls and listed on the Commerce Control List. These goods were allegedly destined for Pakistani entities involved in the country’s nuclear, missile, and UAV programs.

Aziz faces charges of conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and the Export Control Reform Act, carrying potential sentences of five and 20 years imprisonment respectively. The investigation highlights a significant breach of US export control laws and raises concerns about the proliferation of sensitive technology.
