**Kolkata, April 1, 2025** – Dr. Kaizar Hossain, an assistant professor of environmental science at Asutosh College in Kolkata, has achieved a significant milestone in his career. His research on bioremediation technology for wastewater treatment has been published in the prestigious scientific journal *Nature*. Furthermore, he has been invited to serve as a guest editor for a special issue of the journal focused on clean water and sanitation.
Dr. Hossain’s research focuses on sustainable and cost-effective methods for pollution mitigation. His published work details the use of plant extracts to create a novel, eco-friendly trimetallic nanocomposite for antimicrobial applications in wastewater treatment. This method offers a significant improvement over conventional techniques.
“This is the first time, to my knowledge, that a trimetallic CuO/Ag/ZnO nanocomposite has been made using Ziziphus spina-christi leaf extract in an eco-friendly way,” Dr. Hossain stated. He added that he was “truly honoured and grateful” for the recognition.
The appointment as guest editor for *Nature*’s special issue on Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) further underscores Dr. Hossain’s expertise in the field. His previous experience includes postdoctoral work at Universiti Sains Malaysia and PhD research at BARC, Mumbai, focusing on electron beam radiation technology for sewage water treatment.
Asutosh College Principal Dr. Manas Kabi lauded Dr. Hossain’s achievement and praised the college’s active research and development cell.
