Tue Apr 01 15:26:06 UTC 2025: ## Top Maoist Leader Killed in Chhattisgarh Encounter
**Jangaon, Telangana – April 1, 2025** – The death of Gummadivelli Renuka, a prominent leader of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), has sent shockwaves through the organization and her home village of Kadavendi. Renuka, also known as Bhanu, was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar region on Monday. She was 50 years old and had been a key figure in the Maoist movement for nearly 29 years, joining the People’s War Group (PWG) in the mid-1990s after completing her LLB.
Renuka held significant positions within the CPI (Maoist), serving as a member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) and the in-charge of the Central Regional Bureau (CRB) press team. She was known for her role in producing revolutionary literature and publications for the organization. A reward of ₹25 lakh was offered for her capture in Chhattisgarh, and an additional ₹20 lakh in Telangana.
Her death follows the killing of another senior Maoist leader, Ankesarapu Saraiah (alias Sudhakar), also a DKSZC member, on March 25th in Chhattisgarh. These losses represent a significant blow to the CPI (Maoist) leadership.
Renuka’s body is expected to arrive in Kadavendi late Tuesday night, where her family and community await to perform her final rites.
