Mon Mar 31 15:30:00 UTC 2025: **Mumbai Indians’ Ashwani Kumar Makes Stunning IPL Debut with Four-Wicket Haul**

**Mumbai, March 31, 2025** – Ashwani Kumar, a 23-year-old pacer from Mohali, Punjab, made a sensational debut for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, capturing four wickets in his first match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Kumar, playing his first ever IPL game, immediately made his presence felt, dismissing KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane with his very first ball. He bowled a total of three overs, conceding only 24 runs and claiming four wickets in a dominant performance that has sparked considerable interest in the young bowler.

Having previously represented Punjab in first-class cricket, including the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2022, Kumar gained prominence in the Share-a-Punjab T20 Cricket League, particularly for his effective death bowling. While he was drafted by Punjab in 2024, he didn’t get a chance to play. Mumbai Indians acquired him for ₹30 lakhs in the 2025 mega auction. Although he didn’t feature in MI’s first two matches of the season, he was given an opportunity in their recent game at the Wankhede Stadium, an opportunity he seized with both hands.

Kumar’s impressive debut performance has cemented his place as a rising star in the IPL and promises an exciting future for the young pacer.
