Mon Mar 31 16:32:53 UTC 2025: ## Film Director Arrested for Rape After High Court Rejects Bail

**NEW DELHI, April 1, 2024** – Sanoj Mishra, a 45-year-old film director who gained notoriety for offering a role to internet sensation Monalisa during the Kumbh Mela, has been arrested in Delhi on charges of rape. The arrest, which took place in Ghaziabad on March 30th, follows the rejection of his bail application by the Delhi High Court.

Mishra is accused of repeatedly raping a 28-year-old woman from a small town over a four-year period, beginning in 2021 and culminating in an incident at Hotel Shiva in Nabi Karim on February 18, 2025. The woman, who aspired to be a film actress, claims she was in a live-in relationship with Mishra in Mumbai during this time. She further alleges that Mishra forced her to undergo three abortions and reneged on a promise to marry her.

The Delhi Police initiated an investigation after receiving a complaint on March 6th, 2024, leading to the filing of an FIR under several sections, including rape, assault, causing miscarriage, and criminal intimidation. The complainant’s statements to the police, corroborated by medical evidence obtained from Muzaffarnagar related to the alleged abortions, and a statement under Section 164 of the CrPC, provided strong evidence supporting the allegations. Mishra, who resides in Mumbai with his family, is currently being held at the Nabi Karim Police Station. The investigation is ongoing.
