Tue Apr 01 00:29:34 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Man Arrested for Faking Son’s Death to Claim ₹2 Crore Insurance Payout

**NEW DELHI** – A Delhi man has been arrested for orchestrating a fake accident to claim a ₹2 crore insurance payout on his son’s life, police announced Monday. Satish Kumar, along with lawyer Manmohan and a doctor, allegedly staged a motorcycle accident for his son, Gagan, on March 5th in Najafgarh.

Initially, Kumar reported the accident to police but left the station without filing a formal complaint or obtaining a medico-legal report. He later claimed Gagan died on March 6th and was cremated in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, without police notification or a post-mortem. He subsequently filed a complaint against the investigating officer for alleged negligence.

However, police investigation revealed discrepancies. CCTV footage showed Gagan and another person staging the accident. Kumar, Manmohan, and the doctor confessed to the scheme, admitting that the doctor inflicted a minor head injury on Gagan beforehand to lend credibility to the claim. The alleged cremation in Hapur was also found to be false.

The trio’s plan was to fraudulently claim the ₹2 crore insurance policy issued to Gagan on February 13th. Police arrested all three on March 25th and registered a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to fraud and conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing, and police are analyzing call detail records of the accused.
