Tue Apr 01 13:35:03 UTC 2025: ## Over 1 Lakh Tiruchi Farmers Register for Unique ID, Deadline Extended
**Tiruchirappalli, April 1, 2025** – Over one lakh farmers in Tiruchirappalli district have registered for a unique identification number under a new Farmers Registry initiative, Collector M. Pradeep Kumar announced. The deadline for registration has been extended to April 15th.
Of the district’s 183,115 farmers, 100,633 have already received their unique identification numbers after registering their landholdings. This initiative aims to streamline access to government benefits across 25 departments, including agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry. Farmers will no longer need to repeatedly apply for and submit documents for various welfare schemes and subsidies.
The Collector also highlighted that approximately 1.03 lakh farmers in the district receive benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN). However, only 62,563 of these farmers have registered for the unique ID, leaving 40,643 yet to register. He urged these remaining beneficiaries to register immediately.
Farmers can register at village panchayats, village administrative offices, primary agricultural cooperative societies, or Assistant Directors of Agriculture/Horticulture offices. Those living outside their villages can register at approved public service centers. Registration requires providing details of land ownership (patta/joint patta), Aadhaar card copy, and mobile number. All details are verified in the presence of the farmer and uploaded only with their consent. The unique registration number will allow farmers to access both state and central government benefits through a single-window system.
