NEW DELHI – Film director Sanoj Mishra has been arrested by Delhi Police on charges of rape. Mishra, who previously offered a film role to Monalisa, a woman who went viral after appearing at the Maha Kumbh Mela, is accused of sexually assaulting a young woman from Jhansi under the pretext of offering her a film role. Mishra’s bail application was rejected by the High Court, leading to his arrest. His career began humbly as a spot boy in Mumbai before he transitioned to directing. He gained notoriety in 2019 with his film “Ram Ki Janmbhoomi,” which prompted a fatwa from the AIUB urging Muslims not to watch it.
