**NELLORE, Andhra Pradesh – March 31, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board Chairman, Abdul Azeez, announced on Monday that the state’s coalition government will oppose the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill in the central government. Azeez made the statement during Eidgah prayers at the Bara Shaheed Dargah in Nellore, attended by Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy.
Azeez emphasized the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) commitment to protecting the interests of the Muslim community and stated that the coalition government would not tolerate any legislation detrimental to Muslim sentiments. He revealed that the issue has already been discussed with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and further discussions are planned. The amendments to the Waqf Bill, Azeez clarified, haven’t been fully presented yet.
