Mon Mar 31 02:17:32 UTC 2025: ## Uttarakhand IAS Association Demands Respect After BJP MP’s Alleged Insult

**Dehradun, Uttarakhand –** The Uttarakhand IAS Association has passed a resolution demanding respect for its members following a controversy sparked by BJP MP Trivendra Singh Rawat. The resolution, passed at a meeting on Sunday, states that IAS officers are entitled to self-respect and should not be subjected to statements that could cause them harm. The association’s secretary, Dilip Jawalkar, confirmed that a memorandum outlining these concerns will be sent to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The resolution is a direct response to comments made by Rawat, a former Uttarakhand Chief Minister, following his allegations of widespread illegal mining in the state. Rawat’s claims, made in Parliament and subsequently on a private television channel, were refuted by Mining Secretary Brijesh Kumar Sant, who cited record-high mining revenue this fiscal year as evidence against the allegations. Rawat’s response to the Secretary’s rebuttal reportedly included objectionable language, prompting the IAS Association’s action. The association’s move underscores the tension between the MP and the state bureaucracy over the contentious mining issue.
