**Gonda, Uttar Pradesh –** A Junior Engineer, Dharmendra Kushwaha, has accused his wife, Maya Maurya, and her lover, Neeraj Maurya, of assault and issuing a chilling threat to kill him. The threat, allegedly made on March 29th, 2025, mirrored the gruesome Meerut murder that recently gained national attention, with Maya threatening to dismember and dispose of Kushwaha’s body in a drum. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
Kushwaha, who hails from Jhansi and works in Gonda, claims his wife’s relationship with Neeraj Maurya escalated after the death of Neeraj’s wife during the COVID-19 pandemic. He alleges that a confrontation on July 7th, 2024, after he witnessed the couple in a compromising position, led to an assault and Maya’s departure from the home. She later returned with Neeraj, allegedly stealing gold and cash.
Further escalating the situation, Kushwaha states that on March 29th, 2025, Maya and Neeraj assaulted both him and his mother, issuing the threat during the attack. Kushwaha filed a complaint on September 1st, 2024, detailing the earlier incidents.
Maya Maurya has countered the allegations, claiming her husband has been harassing her, forcing her to undergo four abortions, and filing a divorce case. She alleges that she filed a report against him at a women’s police station following an assault in July 2024.
Police have received complaints from both parties and are currently investigating the matter. The Kotwali Police Station SHO, Vivek Trivedi, confirmed that several cases involving the couple are already pending in court. Police are examining CCTV footage as part of their investigation. Action will be taken according to the law after the investigation is complete.
