Mon Mar 31 11:40:00 UTC 2025: ## SSI Payment Schedule Quirks Cause Double Payments and Gaps in 2025
**Washington, D.C.** – Millions of Americans receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments will experience unusual payment dates in 2025 due to scheduling conflicts with federal holidays and weekends. The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced that April’s SSI payment will arrive on April 1st, as usual. However, May, August, and October will see double payments, while June, September, and November will receive no payment.
This is due to the SSA’s practice of issuing payments early when the first of the month falls on a weekend. For instance, the June SSI payment will be sent on May 30th, and similarly, the September and November payments will be included in August and October, respectively. Approximately 7.4 million Americans rely on these monthly payments, which are intended for individuals with limited income or resources, including those over 65, blind, or disabled.
The SSA also clarified the payment schedule for traditional Social Security retirement benefits, which are issued on different Wednesdays of the month depending on the recipient’s birthdate. Those receiving both Social Security and SSI benefits may experience further variances in their payment timelines.
The SSA encourages individuals who believe they may be eligible for SSI to apply online, in person at a local office, or by phone at 1-800-772-1213. The agency also reminds potential applicants to create online accounts ahead of time due to upcoming stronger identity verification procedures.
