Mon Mar 31 03:34:56 UTC 2025: **Haryana Shiv Sena Shuts Down Meat Shops Ahead of Navaratri**

GURUGRAM, March 31, 2025 — Members of the Haryana unit of the Shiv Sena on Sunday forced the closure of several meat shops in Sonipat, Haryana, ahead of the Navaratri festival. The party claims its actions were merely “requests” to the shop owners, but videos show members threatening to take further action if the shops remain open during the festival.

Haryana Shiv Sena president Neeraj Sethi stated that all meat shops in the state would be closed during Navaratri, asserting that the party would actively work to uphold “Hindutava.” The closures were carried out by a group led by party vice-president Pawan Khatri and Sonipat district president Manoj Gurjar, targeting approximately half a dozen shops in the Kundli area.

While Mr. Sethi maintains the closures were voluntary, Mr. Khatri’s video statement indicates a more forceful approach, promising further action should the shops refuse to comply. The legality of the Shiv Sena’s actions remains questionable.
