Mon Mar 31 03:00:00 UTC 2025: **Severe Storms and Tornado Warnings Hit Kentucky and Indiana**

LOUISVILLE, KY (WLKY) – Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes swept across portions of Kentucky and Indiana Sunday evening, causing power outages and prompting numerous warnings. A tornado watch, initially issued for parts of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio at 6:45 PM EDT, remained in effect until 1 AM EDT Monday.

Multiple Tornado Warnings were issued throughout the evening, impacting counties including Washington, Spencer, Meade, Bullitt, Hardin, and others. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was also in effect for areas including Hart County, Elizabethtown, Hodgenville, and parts of Louisville. These warnings, accompanied by reports of damaging winds and hail, resulted in at least 5,600 reported power outages across Meade, Breckinridge, and Hardin Counties as of 10:37 PM. A Flash Flood Warning was also issued for parts of Indiana.

While all Tornado Warnings had expired by late evening, the National Weather Service (NWS) stressed the ongoing risk of severe weather, including damaging winds, large hail, and the possibility of additional tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center placed the WLKY viewing area under an “Enhanced” risk (level 3 out of 5) for severe weather.

The NWS urged residents to remain vigilant and seek shelter if necessary. Residents were advised to stay clear of downed power lines. The severe weather is expected to move out of the area by early Monday morning, with temperatures dropping into the 50s.
