Mon Mar 31 11:16:32 UTC 2025: ## Manhunt Intensifies in Jammu and Kashmir After Militant Escape

**KATHUA, JAMMU AND KASHMIR (March 31, 2025)** — A massive manhunt is underway in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, following the escape of three militants after a deadly encounter last week. The operation, involving the army, police, NSG, CRPF, and BSF, utilizes aerial surveillance and sniffer dogs to track the suspects believed to be affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad.

The intense search follows a Thursday encounter in the Sanyal belt that resulted in the deaths of two militants and four policemen. Three other policemen were injured, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police. The bodies of the deceased officers were recovered over the following days. A shadow outfit of Jaish-e-Mohammed, the People’s Anti-Fascist Front, has claimed responsibility.

Adding to the urgency, the militants reportedly entered a village home on Sunday night, stealing food before leaving. Six individuals, including women from a family suspected of aiding the militants, have been detained for questioning. Investigations are focused on the militants’ support network, including overground workers (OGWs) who provide resources and escape routes. Authorities are particularly scrutinizing the family of a jailed OGW, Mohammad Latief, whose house was allegedly used by one of the slain militants.

The search operation spans multiple forested areas, including Rui, Juthana, Ghati, and Sanyal, and extends to the Samba sector near the International Border, which remains on high alert. Authorities are also investigating a separate incident where a group of militants were intercepted on March 23rd, leading to the subsequent deadly encounter. The operation continues, with security forces determined to apprehend the remaining militants.
