Mon Mar 31 04:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Id-ul-Fitr Celebrations Begin in Kerala
**Palakkad, Kerala –** Muslims across Kerala celebrated the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Id-ul-Fitr on Monday, April 1st, 2025. The new moon, signifying the end of the holy month of fasting, was sighted Sunday evening in several locations including Ponnani, Kappad, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Major religious leaders confirmed the sighting, leading to widespread Id prayers scheduled for Monday morning. Many progressive Muslim communities organized “Id Gahs,” open-air prayer gatherings inclusive of women and children, while traditional celebrations took place in mosques.
Id-ul-Fitr is a time of joyous celebration, family reunions, and expressions of gratitude, according to Madin Academy chairman Syed Ibrahim Khaleel Bukhari. He emphasized the importance of reflecting on spiritual growth during Ramadan and extending kindness to those in need.
The festive atmosphere was palpable on Sunday evening, as last-minute shoppers created a buying frenzy in markets across the state, stocking up on textiles, food, and other goods in preparation for the holiday.
