SRIKAKULAM, Andhra Pradesh (ABN) – The holy month of Ramadan is drawing to a close in Srikakulam district, with the month-long fast concluding on Monday, March 31, 2025. Mosques across the district are prepared for the Eid celebrations that will follow.
Preparations have been underway since March 28th, with mosques decorated with colorful lights. Special prayers (namaz) are scheduled for Monday morning at 7 am, followed by messages from Imams and traditional greetings exchanged amongst the community.
A signature dish, Sheer Khurma – a sweet semolina pudding with nuts and spices – will be a prominent feature of the Eid celebrations. Families will prepare it for the morning and share celebratory Biryani meals with neighbors afterward. The sighting of the new moon will officially mark the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid.
