**Amritsar, Punjab –** Punjab Police announced the arrest of a drug smuggler with ties to international syndicates operating in Pakistan and the United States. The arrest, made Monday, resulted in the seizure of 15 kilograms of heroin and a two-wheeler used in the smuggling operation.

The accused, identified as Harshpreet Singh of Amritsar, was apprehended by Tarn Taran Police during an intelligence-led operation. Preliminary investigations reveal Singh was part of a network orchestrated by a US-based individual, Gurnam Kallowal, who collaborated with a Pakistan-based smuggler known as Pahalwan. Pahalwan allegedly utilized drones to transport heroin across the international border.

Singh’s role involved retrieving drug consignments and distributing them to local dealers, transferring profits through hawala channels to Kallowal. This operation follows a similar arrest on Sunday where Tarn Taran Police seized 6 kilograms of heroin and apprehended two other smugglers.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Tarn Taran) stated that further investigations are underway to identify all members of the network, including suppliers, dealers and buyers. Authorities anticipate additional arrests and drug seizures in the coming days. Singh has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The Punjab Police’s Director General, Gaurav Yadav, praised the successful operation and highlighted the ongoing efforts to dismantle the entire drug trafficking operation.
