Mon Mar 31 10:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Toddler Kidnapped in South Seattle, Safely Recovered After Multi-Agency Pursuit
**Seattle, WA –** A 1 1/2-year-old girl kidnapped from a South Seattle daycare this afternoon has been safely recovered, and a 48-year-old woman is in custody. Seattle Police responded to reports of a child abduction at approximately 2:46 p.m. near Rainier Avenue South. The suspect, known to the child’s mother, fled the scene in a gray sports car.
A coordinated search involving multiple law enforcement agencies quickly ensued. The suspect was located several hours later in Federal Way, near Pacific Highway South and South 324th Street. After a brief foot chase, Federal Way Police apprehended the suspect. The child was safely recovered around 5:45 p.m.
The suspect was initially transported to the Federal Way police station before being taken into custody by Seattle Police. She will be booked into King County Jail following an interview with detectives at Seattle Police Headquarters. The child was reunited with their family at the SPD South Precinct.
The motive for the kidnapping remains under investigation. Seattle Police are urging anyone with information to contact them.
