**Mysuru, March 31, 2025:** The daily wage for workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Karnataka has been increased to ₹370, effective April 1st. This represents a rise from the previous rate of ₹349.
Mandya Zilla Panchayat CEO K.R. Nandini announced the revision, citing an order from the Union Ministry of Rural Development. The new wage applies to the 2025-26 financial year.
The MGNREGA guarantees 100 days of wage employment to eligible rural families annually. With the revised wage, a family completing the full 100 days will earn ₹37,000, a significant increase from the previous ₹34,900.
Ms. Nandini emphasized the scheme’s commitment to gender equality, noting that men and women receive equal pay under MGNREGA. The wage increase is expected to substantially improve the income of rural families across the state.
