**Jalpaiguri, West Bengal –** A court in Jalpaiguri district has sentenced Suresh Roy to death for the brutal murder of his cousin, Sankar Das, in March 2021. Additional Sessions Judge Biplab Roy delivered the verdict on March 29th, citing the extreme brutality of the crime – 18 stab wounds inflicted on an unarmed victim.
Judge Roy drew a parallel to the Mahabharata, highlighting the principle of not attacking unarmed combatants.
