**HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)** – Two Huntsville police officers are recovering from serious injuries after a suspect, identified as Kiara Shardae Burnett, led them on a high-speed chase early Sunday morning.
The incident began around midnight on March 30th when officers initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Pulaski Pike and Poplar Avenue for a probation violation. Burnett, who had an active warrant, attempted to flee, initially striking a tow truck before reversing into two officers and their patrol car. The officers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Burnett’s two passengers, including her child, were unharmed.
Burnett continued to flee, prompting a vehicle pursuit that ended with a crash into an unoccupied vehicle at a Chevron gas station on Jordan Lane and Mastin Lake Road. She was apprehended without further incident.
Burnett now faces a multitude of charges including two counts of first-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident with death or personal injury, felony attempt to elude a police officer, second-degree possession of marijuana, and two counts of probation violation. The Huntsville Police Department is continuing its investigation.
