Mon Mar 31 11:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Hattiesburg’s “Front and Pine Fest” Rises from Hub Fest Cancellation
**HATTIESBURG, Miss.** – When inclement weather forced the cancellation of the annual Hub Fest Saturday, the Hattiesburg community rallied together, turning a potential setback into a testament to local resilience. The Porter, a downtown restaurant, spearheaded the impromptu “Front and Pine Fest,” providing a space for vendors who had lost their opportunity to participate in Hub Fest.
Kayce Boleware, general manager of The Porter, sprang into action late Friday night after Hub Fest’s cancellation, contacting vendors and announcing the new event. Despite the short notice, numerous businesses set up shop in The Porter’s parking lot, drawing a strong turnout from the community.
Vendors expressed immense gratitude for The Porter’s initiative, highlighting the support from both the restaurant and the wider Pine Belt community. Many emphasized the vital role the event played in recouping losses incurred from Hub Fest’s cancellation. “This has been a lifesaver,” said J. Lee, owner of Absolutely J. Lee’s. “It’s bringing back the money I lost from the Hub Festival.”
The event even included live entertainment, with DJ Kujho providing music. The positive response underscored the spirit of collaboration within the Hattiesburg business community. One vendor saw the unexpected event as a “blessing in disguise,” emphasizing the support provided to both the vendors and The Porter itself.
The Area Development Partnership (ADP) is currently investigating the possibility of providing partial refunds to vendors who lost out due to Hub Fest’s cancellation. A statement from ADP President Chad Newell indicated that the organization is working with its insurance provider to assess the financial impact and determine the feasibility of partial reimbursements. The “Front and Pine Fest” serves as a powerful example of Hattiesburg’s ability to adapt and support its local businesses even in the face of adversity.
