Sun Mar 30 23:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Nationwide Eid-ul-Fitr Celebrations Marked by Peace and Heightened Security
**New Delhi, [Date]** – Eid-ul-Fitr, the festival marking the end of Ramadan, was celebrated across India today with widespread enthusiasm and heightened security measures. Millions of Muslims offered prayers in mosques, exchanged greetings, and participated in joyous celebrations emphasizing peace and brotherhood.
The festival’s arrival, confirmed by the sighting of the crescent moon on Sunday evening, saw large gatherings at mosques nationwide. The Islamic Center of India urged devotees to pray only within designated Eidgahs, avoiding street prayers.
Authorities implemented robust security measures in anticipation of the celebrations. Flag marches were conducted in several cities, with police and paramilitary forces on high alert, particularly in Uttar Pradesh and Sambhal. Sambhal, in particular, deployed 1,300 CCTV cameras, seven PAC companies, three RAF companies, and drone surveillance to maintain order, following a pre-Eid dispute between religious leaders regarding who would lead the prayers. This dispute was peacefully resolved with the intervention of local officials.
In Lucknow, Imam Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali of the Eidgah appealed for peaceful and harmonious celebrations. Similar appeals were made by Muslim religious leaders across the country. The heightened security measures, alongside these appeals, contributed to a largely peaceful and joyful Eid celebration. The event marks not only a religious holiday but also a significant social occasion of togetherness and reflection after the month-long Ramadan fast. This year’s Ramadan comprised 29 days, as opposed to 30 last year, in accordance with the lunar calendar.
