Sun Mar 30 17:50:28 UTC 2025: ## CBI Arrests BIS Official in ₹70,000 Bribery Case
**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – March 30, 2025** – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a senior Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) official and another individual for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹70,000. Joint Director (Scientist D) Ramakanth Sagar Muthyala of the BIS Vijayawada branch was apprehended in Hyderabad on Sunday while receiving the bribe from representatives of Bengaluru-based Kronax Engineering & Pressure Vessels Private Limited.
The CBI alleges the bribe was offered in exchange for an official favour. V. Lakshminarayana Reddy alias Babu Reddy and Y. S. Manohar, representatives of the engineering company, have also been named in the case.
Simultaneous raids were conducted at Muthyala’s Hyderabad residence and the BIS office in Vijayawada, resulting in the seizure of incriminating documents. The accused will be presented before a CBI court, and the investigation is ongoing.
