Mon Mar 31 14:22:28 UTC 2025: ## BJP Condemns Police Action Against Students Protesting Land Auction in Hyderabad
**Hyderabad, March 31, 2025** – The BJP has strongly condemned the police use of force against students protesting the proposed auction of government land in Kancha Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Several senior BJP leaders, including Union Ministers Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Eatala Rajender, and Konda Viveswar Reddy, accused the Telangana government and police of heavy-handed tactics.
The protests, which took place on Sunday, involved students opposing the auction due to environmental concerns and the potential loss of green space. Mr. Kumar described the police action as bringing “tears to everyone,” criticizing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for proceeding with the auction despite the protests. He questioned the government’s need to sell public land, particularly given the land’s purported belonging to the University of Hyderabad. He also demanded an investigation into allegations of police brutality against ABVP activists.
Mr. Rajender vowed a large-scale protest against the land sale, while Mr. Reddy emphasized the need to preserve green spaces in the rapidly developing area, noting that the matter is already before the courts.
Earlier, a meeting of BJP leaders, chaired by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, discussed the party’s response. A visit to the protest site and an awareness campaign highlighting the central government’s role in rice distribution are planned. The party aims to form mandal committees by April 15th and complete booth committee screenings by the same date.
