**Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, March 30, 2025** – The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Madurai, conducted a two-day training program for quality control personnel from the packaged drinking water industry in four districts of Tamil Nadu. Thirty-four participants from Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Pudukottai, and Tiruvarur districts attended the course held at the District Industries Centre (DIC) in Thanjavur on March 28th and 29th.
The training covered crucial aspects of Indian Standards, product manuals, testing methodologies, and new BIS guidelines. Topics included microbiological and chemical parameters, BIS certification processes, and the use of the Manak Online portal. S.D. Dayanand, senior director of BIS, Madurai, inaugurated the program, while V. Manivannan, general manager of the DIC, delivered the keynote address. The initiative aims to improve quality control and safety standards within the region’s packaged drinking water sector.
