**Belagavi, Karnataka –** The Belagavi Zilla Panchayat is launching a 15-day campaign (April 1-15) to distribute special job cards to eligible disabled individuals under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). The initiative aims to empower people with disabilities financially.
The campaign will cover all gram panchayats in the district. According to ZP CEO Rahul Shinde, individuals with 40% or more disability, as defined by the Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation Act, 1995, are eligible. While 10,800 disabled individuals already possess job cards, and 2,617 have secured employment through the scheme, this new drive aims to expand access.
