Mon Mar 31 10:00:00 UTC 2025: **Union Minister Condemns Police Action Against HCU Students Protesting Land Sale**
HYDERABAD, March 31, 2025 – Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has strongly condemned the police action against students protesting the proposed sale of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) land. He expressed outrage at videos depicting police forcefully removing and arresting students, calling the actions inhumane and creating a climate of fear on campus.
Sanjay criticized the state government’s alleged plan to sell 400 acres of HCU land, questioning the authority under which the university land was being targeted for sale. He stated that the Telangana Congress government’s intention to sell HCU land reflects a disregard for future generations and a willingness to sell off all state land to stay in power. He demanded an immediate halt to the land sale and action against the police for using excessive force against the students. He also questioned the silence of the state education commission on the matter.
BJP MP Eatala Rajender echoed Sanjay’s condemnation, calling the government’s actions “despicable” and warning of direct action if the land sale isn’t stopped. Rajender criticized the state government for prioritizing land sales over the needs of the university and the state. Both ministers pledged the BJP’s full support to the protesting students.
