TIRUCHI, Tamil Nadu – The Tamilnadu Astronomy and Science Society (TASS) will host the Youth Astronomy and Science Congress (YASC) to encourage scientific pursuits among young people. The event, open to students, researchers, and aspiring astronomers, will feature presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and lectures by experts. Activities include astrophotography and the development of space-related games.
According to TASS president G. Ramesh, the congress aims to combat a declining number of students choosing science streams. He hopes YASC will foster curiosity and cultivate a new generation of scientists and researchers.
Registrations opened in early March, followed by an online orientation. An interim workshop is scheduled for April, with project submissions due in late May. The regional congress will be held in Tiruchi in late June, while the state-level event is planned for July, with the venue yet to be announced.
