Mon Mar 31 09:52:35 UTC 2025: ## AIMIM Leader Demands UAPA Charges in Maharashtra Mosque Blast Case

**Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra –** Former Member of Parliament and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Imtiaz Jaleel has demanded the invocation of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against two individuals arrested for allegedly detonating a blast inside a mosque in Beed district, Maharashtra.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning, March 30th, 2025, at a mosque in Ardha Masla village, causing damage to the building but no injuries. Police swiftly apprehended Vijay Rama Gavhane (22) and Sriram Ashok Sagde (24) in connection with the explosion. Both accused have been remanded to police custody until April 3rd.

Mr. Jaleel, speaking after Eid prayers on Monday, criticized the apparent disparity in law enforcement, alleging that harsher measures are often taken against Muslims for minor offenses. He argued that the UAPA, typically reserved for serious offenses, should be applied in this case given the use of explosives against a religious structure. He further criticized the demolition of the house of an accused in a separate incident in Nagpur, questioning the fairness of punishing families for the actions of individuals. While welcoming the police’s prompt action in arresting the suspects, he insisted that the UAPA charges are necessary to ensure justice and prevent similar incidents.
