**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh –** Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has stressed the need for improved efficiency and operational capacity at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) to ensure the success of its revitalization plan. This follows a meeting on Monday with a delegation from the Union Ministry of Steel, where a comprehensive action plan for the plant’s revival was discussed.
The meeting, held at Naidu’s residence in Undavalli, focused on implementing the financial assistance package recently approved by the NDA government. Union Minister of State for Steel Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma thanked the Chief Minister for providing State Special Protection Force (SPF) security for the plant.
Naidu emphasized the emotional significance of VSP (RINL) for the people of Andhra Pradesh and highlighted the crucial need for collaboration between the state and central governments. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the financial aid. However, he cautioned that unless the plant addresses efficiency, operational capacity, and maintenance cost issues, the desired results may not be achieved. The possibility of restarting the third blast furnace was also discussed.
The delegation included Union Steel Ministry Secretary Sandeep Poundrik, Joint Secretary Abhijit Narendra, and representatives from NMDC, RINL, MECON, and MSTC Limited. Regular progress reviews were also identified as a key component of the revitalization strategy.
