**DETROIT, MI** – A possible explosion at an apartment building on Detroit’s west side early this morning left seven people hospitalized, including five children. Twelve residents – six adults and six children – were rescued from the building in the 1300 block of Littlefield Street around 4:00 a.m. Three of the injured sustained severe injuries.
Fire Commissioner Charles Simms praised the quick response of firefighters, stating that their actions prevented a potentially far worse outcome. He recounted the harrowing rescue of one family, describing how residents were forced to escape through windows due to the building’s instability. The building is currently deemed unsafe and is being investigated for structural integrity.
