Mon Mar 31 05:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Residents Face Property Tax Deadline Tonight
**Bengaluru, March 31:** Bengaluru residents have until midnight tonight to pay their property taxes for the 2024-25 fiscal year. Failure to do so will result in a 100% penalty, equal to the outstanding tax amount. This means that taxpayers will have to pay double the original amount. In addition, a 15% annual interest will be levied on the total amount due.
Previously, the penalty was double the property tax amount. However, the government has revised this, reducing the penalty to the same amount as the outstanding tax. For example, an outstanding tax of ₹100 will now incur a ₹100 penalty. This reduced penalty offer ends tonight.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) aimed to collect ₹5,210 crore in property taxes this year but has only collected ₹4,604 crore so far. Officials are prepared to collect the remaining amount with the 100% penalty and interest.
To avoid the double payment and interest, residents must pay their property taxes by 11:59 PM tonight.
