**Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh:** Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with traditional fervor across Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Large congregations gathered at mosques and Eidgahs across the state, including prominent locations in Lucknow, Sambhal, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Rampur, Amethi, Hardoi, Aligarh, Jhansi, and Gonda, to offer prayers. The celebrations were marked by a strong police presence to ensure peace and security.
In Lucknow’s Aishbagh Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahli led the prayers, with a significant number of people in attendance. Prominent political figures, including Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Danish Azad, former Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, and Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Rai, offered Eid greetings.
Similar scenes of peaceful celebrations unfolded in other districts. In Sambhal, approximately 50,000 people attended prayers at the Shahi Eidgah, under tight security. In Varanasi, prayers were held peacefully at mosques including the Gyanvapi and Nadesar mosques, with heavy police presence. Similar reports of peaceful celebrations and strong security measures were reported from Gonda, Hardoi, Amethi, Jhansi and Rampur.
While the overall atmosphere remained peaceful across the state, reports from Aligarh indicated some worshippers wore black armbands to show solidarity with Muslims globally and protest a pending Waqf bill in Parliament.
Police officials across the state reported that prayers were conducted peacefully and that security measures, including drone surveillance in sensitive areas, were successfully implemented. The celebrations were marked by a spirit of peace and communal harmony, with people exchanging greetings and offering prayers for the well-being of the nation.
