**New Delhi, India** – Film director Sanोज Kumar Mishra, known for offering a role to MonaLisa, a woman who gained viral fame during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, has been arrested by Delhi Police on rape charges. The arrest follows the Delhi High Court’s rejection of his anticipatory bail plea.
A 28-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh filed a complaint alleging sexual assault. She claims to have met Mishra in 2020 through TikTok and Instagram while residing in Jhansi. According to the FIR, Mishra allegedly coerced her into meeting him under the threat of suicide. He then allegedly drugged and raped her at a resort on June 18, 2021.
The complaint further states that Mishra repeatedly assaulted the woman at various locations, took explicit photos of her, and threatened to release them publicly. He allegedly promised her marriage and enticed her to Mumbai under the guise of work, where the abuse continued.
Mishra came under the spotlight after offering MonaLisa a role in his film, “The Manipur Diary.” MonaLisa’s fame rose after photos of her selling garlands at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela went viral.
The investigation is ongoing. Mishra is currently in police custody.
