Sat Mar 29 23:10:00 UTC 2025: ## NTR District Aims for Economic Growth, Focuses on Tourism
**Vijayawada, March 30, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district is targeting significant economic growth, with plans to boost per capita income and expand the tourism sector, according to Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav. Addressing the second District Review Committee (DRC) meeting at the historic Kondapalli Fort on Saturday, Minister Yadav announced a goal to increase the district’s per capita income from ₹3,53,150 (2024-25) to ₹4,17,412 (2025-26). This follows the district’s current ranking as third in the state for per capita income.
Ambitious growth targets were also set for various sectors: 15.94% for agriculture, 18.57% for industry, and 22.22% for trade, hotels, and restaurants. The meeting highlighted the district’s tourism potential, with new tourism packages and a temple circuit designed to attract visitors, including a plan to integrate the Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada with the Tirumala-Tirupati pilgrimage route.
The DRC meeting reviewed progress on 113 issues raised by elected officials last November, including minimum support prices for chillies and land allocation for MSME projects. Minister Yadav proposed reforms to the DRC process, suggesting future meetings focus on two sectoral themes for in-depth discussions. He also instructed the district collector to request issue details from members 15 days prior to meetings to facilitate better preparation.
NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha reported that the service sector currently accounts for 67.19% of the district’s financial system, with a target of 67.29% for the current year. The new tourism packages are expected to be launched within 10 days. The choice of Kondapalli Fort as the meeting venue aimed to promote both tourism and the fort’s cultural significance.
