Sun Mar 30 04:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Severe Storms Bring Hail, Power Outages Across Oklahoma

**Oklahoma City, OK –** Severe thunderstorms swept across Oklahoma Saturday night into Sunday morning, bringing large hail, damaging winds, and prompting a tornado watch for much of the state. KOCO 5 Chief Meteorologist Damon Lane warned of the potential for large hail and a low threat of tornadoes.

The storms resulted in widespread power outages, with Oklahoma Gas and Electric reporting over 2,300 customers without power, the highest concentration in Shawnee (1,640 customers).

Multiple severe thunderstorm warnings were issued throughout the night by the National Weather Service, impacting numerous cities including Oklahoma City, Norman, Edmond, Shawnee, and Ponca City. These warnings cited wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail ranging in size from quarter-sized to golf ball-sized, with some reports of tennis ball-sized hail.

The National Weather Service also issued a tornado watch covering a large portion of the state, encompassing areas from western to eastern Oklahoma. While the risk of tornadoes remained low, the threat of significant hail posed a major concern, with the potential for hail up to golf ball size in some areas.

The severe weather activity primarily lasted from 7 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, with storms moving eastward across the state. KOCO 5 encouraged viewers to download their app for customized weather alerts and to stay updated via their various platforms.
