**Bengaluru, March 30, 2025** – Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced the release of two thousand million cubic feet (tmc ft) of water from the Bhadra reservoir between April 1st and 5th as a Ugadi gift to farmers in Kalyana Karnataka. This water will flow into the Tungabhadra canals, benefiting crops in Koppal, Raichur, and Yadgir districts and ensuring adequate drinking water supplies.
The announcement, made on Sunday, comes as the reservoir currently holds 28 tmc ft of water. The government has allocated 11 tmc ft for irrigation needs until May 8th and 14 tmc ft for drinking water, leaving a reserve of 3 tmc ft. After April 5th, the canals will be used solely for drinking water purposes.
