Sun Mar 30 16:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Eid al-Fitr Celebrations Begin; Hyderabad’s Haleem Sales Soar
**Hyderabad, March 30, 2025** – Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, will be celebrated in India on Monday, March 31st. The sighting of the new moon on Saturday evening confirmed the date, aligning with celebrations already underway in Saudi Arabia and other West Asian countries on Sunday.
Ramadan’s month-long fast concluded on Sunday, and the festive occasion has seen a surge in the sale of Haleem, a traditional meat and lentil stew, across Telangana. Estimates suggest that approximately ₹800 crore worth of Haleem has been sold in the state this month alone.
Hyderabad’s culinary scene is particularly vibrant, with popular restaurants reporting brisk business. One establishment, Pista House, is selling 2,000 kg of Haleem daily, while other renowned restaurants across the city, such as Shadab, 555, and several others in localities like Masab Tank, Mehdipatnam, Banjara Hills, and Old City, are selling between 1,000 and 1,500 kg per day. The high demand is expected to continue until April 6th.
The celebrations will extend beyond Eid al-Fitr, with many observing a six-day fast during the first few days of Shawwal, the month following Ramadan, creating continued demand for Haleem.
