Sat Mar 29 21:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Visakhapatnam Rail Passengers Face Frustration Amidst Cancellations and Overcrowding
**Visakhapatnam, March 30, 2025** – Passengers traveling between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad are facing significant disruptions due to the cancellation of special trains and overcrowding on regular services. Rail activists are criticizing South Central Railway (SCR) for the cancellations, citing inconsistencies in their explanations.
The SCR has canceled several Visakhapatnam-bound special trains scheduled for Ugadi, citing crew shortages and maintenance work. However, activists point out that special trains to other destinations continue to operate without similar issues, leading to accusations of biased treatment against Visakhapatnam. Social media posts directed at the Railway Minister and Prime Minister express outrage at the perceived neglect.
Adding to the problem, ten long-distance trains are being rerouted through Duvvada and Vizianagaram, bypassing Visakhapatnam Junction altogether. Furthermore, the SCR has proposed diverting or canceling several more key express trains due to planned maintenance, suggesting alternative routes via Vizianagaram, Rayagada, Titlagarh, and Nagpur.
Meanwhile, regular Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad trains are consistently full, with extensive waiting lists forcing many passengers to resort to more expensive private sleeper buses. While air travel is an option, the high cost during peak periods makes it impractical for many. The situation highlights a growing frustration amongst passengers and rail activists over what they see as inadequate service and transparency from the SCR.
