Sat Mar 29 21:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Media Mogul Questioned in Phone-Tapping Scandal
**Hyderabad, March 30, 2025** – Aruvela Shravan Kumar Rao, a media house owner and key accused in a high-profile phone-tapping scandal, was questioned for seven hours on Saturday by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Hyderabad. Mr. Rao, accused number 6 in the case, had spent nearly a year abroad evading authorities after the scandal broke last year.
Mr. Rao, who returned to India from Dubai early Saturday, appeared at the Jubilee Hills ACP office. According to SIT officials, he was uncooperative and evasive during questioning. His prolonged stay abroad, initially in London and later the U.S., led to the issuance of a Red Corner Notice. However, following a Supreme Court ruling, he was ordered to cooperate with the investigation without facing immediate arrest.
The phone-tapping scandal began with the arrest of former DSP Praneeth Rao in March 2024, who allegedly intercepted calls of prominent political leaders and officials. A Red Corner Notice was also issued for former SIB Chief T. Prabhakar Rao, another accused in the case. The investigation continues.
